ESSENTIAL INITIATIVES AS A RESULT OF THE 44TH MEETING OF THE TECHINCAL COUNCIL FOR GULF STANDARDIZATION ORGANIZATION
The technical council for Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) has successfully completed its 44th meeting, and has come up with 8 main decisions and initiatives as follows:
- 116 GSO technical regulations and some new standards projects to be approved
- 1274 fast-track GSO standards projects
- New amendments for some GSO standards
- National digitalization for the existing GSO standards and technical regulations on the GSO online store, to be the main reference for all GCC countries
- Forming a secondary technical committee specialized in tobacco standards
- Activate the role of GULFMET (Gulf Association for Metrology)
- Updating the Technical Committee for Legal Metrology & the Technical Committee for Measuring Ionizing Radiation under the umbrella of GULFMET
- Authorizing GSO to sign an MOU with IEC; in order to translate the IEC standards into Arabic
IAF MLA ANNUAL REPORT HAS NOW BEEN PUBLISHED
The 2019 IAF MLA Annual Report has now been published, which ensures the regulators, specifiers, businesses and stakeholders can have confident accredited certification and the IAF MLA, IAF and its Accreditation Body Members invest significant effort and resources to maintain the integrity and consistency of the MLA through a peer evaluation process. The 2019 IAF MLA Annual Report sets out the detailed activities that are carried out as a part of the peer evaluation process, including details of scope extensions to the MLA, new applicants, new signatories, and a breakdown of the numbers of accredited Certification Bodies worldwide.

61 NEW ARAB STANDARDS & AN INITIAL AGREEMENTS FOR AN ARABIAN HALAL MARK
With participation of 16 Arab countries in Ribat - Morocco, Egypt chairs the meeting of the higher advisory committee for standardization of the Arab organization for industrial development and mining.
in addition to Egypt, Jordan, the Emirates, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Yemen attended the online meeting on June 25th, 2020
